Product Design: (B.Des.)
The Product Design programme enable the learners to understand the various approaches, processes and systems to address human needs by creating tangible products. In the various courses that the learners pursue, the emphasis is on learning-by-doing and following a comprehensive process of designing, producing and marketing products, systems and services.
Transportation Design: (B.Des.)
The learners of Transportation Design experiences the courses of study exclusively to explore an inborn human need of human mobility. Beginning with the concept of transporting people and commodities using a variety of means, its emphasis moves on creating sustainable systems for Transportation Design. It is not only limited to Automobile Design and Car Design but to design systems which enhance mobility for humans and commodities. Learners’ innovative ability is challenged further when the scope of a transport vehicle is extended from land, water to air and even space.
Interior Space & Furniture Design: (B.Des.)
Interior Space and Furniture Design discipline focuses on designing and planning of interior spaces for all kinds of human needs. The learners concentrate on designing spaces - interior and exterior – according to their functional hierarchies and interrelationships. Spaces to be more functional and aesthetic require components like furniture, seating, storage, lighting, etc. The interior space design should be integrated with furniture & accessories, and both should have a harmonious interaction. This makes the built space respond like an efficient, well designed system. This approach imparts the learner a unique edge than merely “interior decoration”. Of the many Interior Space and Furniture Design Courses, the one at MIT ID emphasizes on the holistic learning.
Retail Design: (B.Des.)
Retail Design lies at the intersection of architecture, marketing, strategy and design of the built environment. The programme at MIT ID takes an innovative and progressive approach to addressing design issues intrinsic to the evolution and transformation of retail environments. The core curriculum includes the study of art and design history, theory of spatial manipulation, drawing, structures, materials and processes, lighting and technology, typography, human factors, and the theory and specifics of retail design, all of which ensures that students fully understand the concerns of the retail industry and its allied fields.
Graphic Design: (B.Des.)
Graphic Design at MITID is focused on imparting the sound theoretical and conceptual understanding, and also of the necessary skills required to be a professional graphic designer.
The learners find the course study centered on various topics like typography and type design, illustration and photography, packaging and print design, signage design and corporate identity systems. The application of Information Technology would take learners in fields of computer graphics, multimedia and web design. Learners use software like Sound Forge, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects and Combustion for the Graphic Design projects.
Animation Design: (B.Des.)
In Animation Design, the courses of study exclusively deal with moving images. The Animation Design Programmes at MIT ID focus more on design thinking and doing. The learners of Animation Design acquire special skills and techniques of animation such as Personality and Caricature, kinematics, Illustration, Visual Scripting, Story Boarding, Pixilation, and Model Animation Design. Here the essential grasp over the narrative content combined with proficiency with animation design techniques goes toward creating an effective piece of communication.
Film & Video Design: (B.Des.)
Courses in Film and Video Design put emphasis on a strong narrative content. To communicate using the Film and Video media, one needs to use equipment like film and video cameras and editing systems. Moreover, conceptual processes in addressing the communication needs of the social and commercial sectors should also be rigorously followed.
Fashion Design (B.Des.)
This course prepares the learners for a career in fashion. The B.Des Fashion Design is a skills-based course, where they have the opportunity to explore their ideas both two- and three-dimensionally, using a broad variety of techniques and approaches in exciting and challenging projects. The course has excellent links with industry both through live projects and external competitions as well as collaborations with industry experts.
Fashion Communication (B.Des.)
This unique and exciting course teaches the intellectual, practical and professional skills the learners need to succeed in a career in promotion and communication for the global fashion industry. They get the opportunity to learn the fundamental skills of research, experimentation and realization, as well as new practices and innovations within fashion promotion, communication and image generation.
Game Design (B.Des.)
At MIT ID, Game Design course is offered as undergraduate programme and focussing on both Game Art, Design and Production, including programming. Each aspect of Game Design such as Concept Design, Environmental Design, 2D Art, 3D Art, Strategy, Game Phycology, Level Design and programming along with Industry professionals/ experts guidance and support. The program will be well blend of Science, Technology and Art and a learner have complete freedom to take up Interested Game from 2D or 3D. The programme is well designed to give Game enthusiast to produce games and promote to become Independent Designer who can be Game changer and leaders in the Industry.
The basic eligibility for admissions in the Bachelor of Design is 10+2 from any stream, (State Boards/AISSCE/ IB/ ISC) the students have to clear the admission process comprising of Design Aptitude Test followed by studio test & personal interview.
Age Limit : 20 years
APPLICATION FORM:
Online Application forms are available from the month of October on the website. The candidate has to fill the online application form available on the website The Design Aptitude test fees of Rs.3000/- also has to be paid online while filling up of the form. Candidates have to upload all necessary documents while filling up the form.
Admission Process:
Admission is on the basis of MITID method of selection, which extends beyond the students previous academic qualifications. The MITID Admission Committee systematically seeks evidence of the perception, attitude, aptitude, achievement and motivation essential for a challenging and satisfying design career. The objective of the tests and the interviews is to ascertain the above qualities.The Admission Committee decides the procedures, grades and weightage every year.
The norms for the selection are the sole prerogative of the Admission Committee and the decision of the Admission Committee and the Management in any of the matters concerning the admission process and selection will be final. Any direct or indirect attempt to influence the admission committee or its members, academic office bearers or management will lead to the automatic disqualification of the candidate(s).
The admission process is in two phases:
Phase - 1: (Design Aptitude Test) conducted at various centres across the country.
Design Aptitude Test (DAT) will be conducted on the 1st Sunday of April at various test centres across India.(Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune) MITID reserves its right to add, change or cancel any of these centres.
Based on scores obtained from MIT-DAT, shortlisted candidates will be called for second phase.The number of candidates to be shortlisted for the second round will be four times of the sanctioned intake (minimum) or more depending upon the number of eligible candidates
The score of the last candidate in the list will be the cut off score for the open category candidates
Relaxation in Cut-Off scores for candidates in reserved categories will be 10% less than cut off score for open category.
Phase – 2: Studio Test and Personal Interviewat MITID campus in Pune.
The second phase of the admission procedure will consist of studio tests followed by personal interviews at Institute in Pune. All those candidates called for the second phase are required to attend the studio tests and interview, which completes the process of selection.

The programme aims at the study of concepts, methods, and techniques of information architecture, usability engineering, information design, interaction design, visual design, ethnography and prototype engineering with focus on artifacts’, where user experience is essential. After the programme, students will be able to design and conduct usability studies of both traditional artifacts’ and systems where experience is important.

M.Des in Design Management is a unique management program offered in a creative multi-disciplinary environment. Immersive Media Design (M.Des.)
MIT ID is offering a trans-disciplinary unique master programme in Immersive Media Design. This programme deals with the core technologies across merging disciplines of all creative expressions, which will form future means of interacting. It is the convergence of technology with the new emerging media.
The aim of the programme is to provide advanced research and knowledge in futuristic technological interactions, and establish strong academic and industry-academic collaborative projects. It transforms data into meaningful social and emotional communication. It will explore the human side of futuristic immersive design with related technologies and interactions with emerging medias in focus to understand the compelling user engagement in fields ranging from education, health, social communication, art, entertainment, branding, spatial installations and business.

Automotive Clay & Digital Sculpting help designers to translate their vision into a tangible reality. This course will be intensive skill based programme, which will have inputs in design fundamentals, form studies, technical design, digital modelling, materials and model making. Automotive Clay Modelling was identified collectively by Indian OEMs as an area with a gap between the supply & demand of skilled personnel. The importance of clay models in helping to visualize & sell concepts cannot be overstated. Though the related skillsets are much in demand and their availability well below was is need by the industry be it transportation or product.
With the aim to address this gap, MIT ID has developed these programmes in close collaboration with Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). SIAM is committed to strengthening the Indian automotive design ecosystem.
