Pune: In a remarkable example of lifelong learning, 80-year-old Dr Shashikant Joshi has earned his PhD from MIT Art, Design and Technology University, becoming one of the oldest doctoral graduates of the institution. Dr Joshi completed his research under the guidance of Virendra Bhojwani, Director (Research), emerging as the university’s 99th PhD graduate and the 15th scholar to receive a doctorate under Bhojwani’s mentorship.
Congratulating him on the milestone, Pro-Chancellor Mangesh T Karad, Vice-Chancellor Rajesh S., along with senior university officials including Provost Dr Sayalee Gankar, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Technology Cluster) Dr Ramachandra V Pujeri, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) Dr Mohit Dubey, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Creative Cluster) Dr Nachiket Thakur and Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Sciences, Dr Sudarshan Sanap, hailed the achievement as a proud moment for the university.
University authorities said Dr Joshi’s accomplishment stands as a powerful reminder that the pursuit of knowledge knows no age, and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to fostering research excellence and higher education across disciplines.
