Food Technology Students Visit ICAR–National Research Centre for Grapes, Pune

The School of Food Technology at MIT Art, Design and Technology University, Pune, organised an industrial educational visit to the National Referral Laboratory at ICAR–National Research Centre for Grapes, Manjari, Pune, on 12 October 2026. The programme involved postgraduate’s students and was coordinated by Dr. M. V. Gunjal, Dr. N. G. Suradkar and Dr. G. P. Gaikwad. The visit formed part of academic learning for students pursuing M.Tech. in Food Technology and M.Tech. in Food Safety and Quality Management from Semesters I and III. It aimed to connect classroom concepts with scientific testing, analytical instrumentation and quality assurance. The programme included an introductory briefing, interactions with laboratory personnel and observation of analytical instruments and computer workstations. Technical explanations helped students understand the relevance of instrumental analysis and pesticide residue testing to food safety. The experience highlighted the importance of careful sample handling, reliable analytical results, laboratory discipline and professional conduct. It also provided context for understanding how analytical evidence supports decisions concerning chemical contaminants and food quality. By connecting postgraduate coursework with a professional laboratory environment, the visit strengthened students awareness of laboratory workflows and research applications. The exposure provided a foundation for subsequent classroom discussions, course assignments and further exploration of food safety testing practices.
