MIT-ADT’s Prof. Aditya Kedari Secures Historic Medal Hattrick at Asian Indoor Rowing Championship

Pattaya (Thailand) / Pune –In a landmark achievement for India, Prof. Aditya Ravindra Kedari of MIT Art, Design and Technology University (MIT-ADT), Pune, secured a remarkable hattrick of medals at the prestigious Asian Indoor Rowing Championship held in Pattaya, the capital of Thailand.

Prof. Kedari, who teaches at the School of Law, clinched three medals – Gold in 2 km Masters Mixed Doubles, Silver in 2 km Men’s Masters Single Scull, and Bronze in 500m Masters Single Scull, etching his name in the record books while bringing pride to both Maharashtra and the university.

In the Men’s Masters 2 km Single Scull event, Kedari clocked an impressive 6:27.5 to bag the silver medal, narrowly trailing his Indian teammate Siddharth who won gold with a time of 6:25.1, while Saudi Arabia’s Hisham secured the bronze with 6:40.7.

Teaming up with Harpreet Kaur in the 2 km Masters Mixed Doubles, Kedari delivered a power-packed performance, winning gold for India. He then followed up with a gritty race in the 500m Masters Single Scull, earning the bronze medal, marking a rare triple podium finish in a single international championship.

Prof. Kedari is no stranger to success on the rowing stage. He was last year’s gold medalist in the 500m Masters category at the same championship. Following his silver medal performance at the National Indoor Rowing Championship in Punjab earlier this year, he was selected for the Indian national team by the Rowing Federation of India (RFI), under the leadership of President Rajalakshmi Singh Deo.

He trained rigorously under coach Sandeep Bhapkar at MIT-ADT’s own Boat Club, significantly improving his performance and timing. Notably, Prof. Kedari is the only full-time working professional in India to achieve a medal hattrick at the Asian level, and the only player from Maharashtra to be selected in the Indian squad for two consecutive Asian Championships.

The achievement has been lauded by several dignitaries, including Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, Founder-President of the MAEER’s MIT Group of Institutions; Dr. Mangesh Karad, Executive President of MIT-ADT; Dr. Sunita Karad, Executive Director; Dr. Rajesh S., Vice-Chancellor; Dr. Ramchandra Pujeri, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Dr. Mahesh Chopade, Registrar; Dr. Mohit Dube; Prof. Padmakar Phad, Director of Sports; Dr. Sapna Dev, Dean, School of Law; and Dr. Suraj Bhoyar, Director, Student Welfare.
