MIT-ADT Student Tejas Patil Named in Indian Squad for Asian Fencing Championships

Foil fencer to represent India in New Delhi event after Shanghai Grand Prix appearance

Pune: Tejas Manoj Patil, a student of the School of Computing at MIT Art, Design and Technology University (MIT-ADT), Loni Kalbhor, has been selected to represent India in the men’s foil team at the Senior Asian Fencing Championships, scheduled to be held in New Delhi from June 18 to 24.

The selection, announced by the Fencing Association of India, places Patil among the country’s top foil fencers competing at the continental championship, which features elite athletes from across Asia and serves as a key event in the international fencing calendar.

Patil had earlier represented India at the Foil Grand Prix in Shanghai, China, and has been consistently progressing through national and international circuits. His inclusion in the Asian Championships squad further strengthens India’s men’s foil lineup as the country hosts the prestigious continental event.

According to the official squad list, India has fielded a 24-member contingent (12 men and 12 women), with Tejas Patil named in the men’s foil category alongside other national-level fencers selected through competitive trials.

The championship is expected to bring together more than 30 countries and over 400 athletes, making it one of the most significant fencing events in Asia this season.

Congratulating the student, MIT-ADT University leadership including Founder President Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, Executive President and Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mangesh Karad, Executive Director Dr. Sunita Karad, Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajesh S., and Sports Director Prof. Padmakar Phad extended their best wishes to Patil for his performance at the championship.
