MIT-ADTU host's State Level Invitational Kabaddi Tournament

Pune – BJS Wagholi College secured a commanding victory by 18 points in the final round of the State Level Invitational Kabaddi Tournament, held at the MIT ADT University Sports Complex. The tournament, organized in association with the Pune District Kabaddi Association and the Student Welfare Department of MIT University of Art, Design, and Technology, was conducted on the occasion of National Sports Day.

BJS Wagholi dominated the final against Marathwada Mitra Mandal College of Engineering (MMCOE) with a scoreline of 55-37. Star players Harshal Daudhar and Darshan Ranadive played crucial roles, leading their team with aggressive raids. Despite a valiant effort from MMCOE’s Rishikesh Sonawane, his team fell short of victory.

The match opened with BJS Wagholi taking a slight lead in the first session, scoring 22 points, including 2 wickets and 2 bonus points, while MMCOE trailed closely with 19 points. However, the second session saw BJS Wagholi overpower their opponents, adding 33 more points to their tally, while MMCOE could only score 18 points, sealing the victory for BJS Wagholi by an 18-point margin.

The winning team was awarded trophies and cash prizes by former Kabaddi player Appasaheb Dalvi, Director of the Sports Department and Shiv Chhatrapati Award winner Prof. Padmakar Phad, Asian Rowing Championship gold medalist Prof. Aditya Kedari, Assistant Director of Student Welfare Dr. Suraj Bhoyar, and Olympian Boxer Manoj Pingle.

MIT ADT Kabaddi coach Kshipra Paithankar played a significant role in the success of the tournament, ensuring smooth organization and a high level of competition.
