USP of the Programme
BA in Journalism and Mass Communication programmeme is designed to give exposure to students to the fundamentals of the Mass Media industry and its interaction with society, polity and culture. This course provides insight into how journalism and the media is changing in a globalised world along with the practical skills the students need to learn to enter into the world of media.
You not only get a chance to learn from the members of the faculty who have been practising professionals in their respective fields but also in form of guest lectures, seminars and workshops. At the practical level, you will be building and creating your individual portfolio with hands-on, in-the-field training which will be your key to the industry.
You will be able to gain the ability to research based on the highest academic standards. You will also get a chance to explore a four-semester Media Skill Development Programmeme (MSDP) with an emphasises on practical modules to develop industry- standard skills.
The vast and dynamic field of Communication offers an array of job opportunities and research in reputed organizations both in government and private sectors. A journalism and mass communication degree holder can choose to work for advertising agencies, broadcast companies, public relations firms, news agencies, photography organizations, TV channels, newspapers, radio telecast companies, journals, Digital media forms etc.

Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent from recognized board with minimum 50%.

To hone the journalistic and research skills through practical work, assignments, project reports, seminars, workshops and to acquaint students with advanced journalism and media practices and to offer appropriate grounding in the issues, ideas and challenges of 21st century thereby broadening the world view of the future media practitioners by developing multi-tasking skills required in the dynamic multi-media and convergent environment.
This specialized degree equips students with both academic and practical knowledge, developing them into dynamic communication specialists and preparing them for a career in the media industry.
2-Year full-time programme
Bachelor's degree from any discipline from a recognized university with minimum 40%. Candidate who has appeared for their final year degree examination may also apply.
The Ph.D. programme is a multi-conceptual and research-based degree programme designed to produce excellent educators and researchers. The programme includes a strong element of social science research tools along with statistics and research design. After completion of a PhD, students/scholars will be able to teach and research at the university level and work at industry and research institutions. Researchers in mass communication programmes gain a foundation in the core principles of mass communication theories and research methodologies.
