Aerospace engineering deals with designing and building machines that fly. It is one of the newest branches of engineering, and began in the 19th century with the first experiments in powered flight. As technology progressed, two specialties emerged: aeronautical engineering, which involves designing aircrafts such as powered, lighter-than-air crafts, gliders, fixed-wing airplanes and jets, autogyros, and helicopters; and Astronautical engineering, which focuses on the design and development of spacecraft.
Students of the B.Tech. programme in Aerospace Engineering are equipped to take up challenging job roles in the Aerospace Engineering Industry, in areas like propulsion systems, aerodynamic design, structural systems, precision manufacturing, etc. Students will get a chance to work on live projects. With experience in such projects and with good performance, they could be given the responsibility of leading teams which design and develop aerospace systems and subsystems.
