4) About MITSFT ?
  • The MIT School of Film and Theatre was established in 2015 to fulfill the upcoming needs of this sector. Set up under the leadership of Dr Jabbar Patel, the well-known film director, the MIT School of Film and Theatre trains individuals in the disciplines of Film Direction and Screen Play writing, Film Editing, Cinematography, Sound Recording and Design and Visual Effects.
  • MIT School of Film and Theatre (SFT) is housed in its own building on the picturesque banks of the River Mutha in Loni. This building houses the classrooms and studios of the various departments of MIT-SFT. Pune's largest film and Theatre shooting studio is coming up within this  building, and will create endless opportunities for MIT SFT's students to interact with the cinema media industries without leaving their campus.
5) Highlights/ USP/ Significance:
  • The BSc and MSc curriculum at MITSFT is designed in consideration of Indian as well as international film industry norms and the degrees are recognized by  UGC - University grants commission of India.
  • MIT-ADTU is located in the 125 acre campus at Rajbaug, Loni, on the banks of the Mutha River, offering diverse locations for students to practise their filmmaking skills, as it is also  the abode of legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor where his International acclaimed films were produced. Pune is considered Oxford of the east and a cultural capital of India.
  • As a part of the University system, Non-Core Subjects like Political Science, History of Art (painting and Sculpture), Sociology, Introduction to the Performing Arts, Psychology, Introduction to Indian and Western Classical Music, Introduction to Literature etc, are all a part of the syllabus. These subjects help the students grow their minds to get ready for a career in filmmaking, as they receive all round education in media which could be qualified as a 360 degree perspective in media.
  • MITSFT offers over thirty units of cameras, editing and sound recording systems, that permit each student to experiment and learn with equipment on a one-to-one basis.
  • MITSFT offers a dedicated shooting studio for camera workshops, and shortly, the largest air-conditioned shooting studio in Pune.
  • MITSFT offers dedicated audio workstations to train people in Sound Design and Audio Post-Production for films and theatre.
  • All faculty are alumni of prestigious institutes such as Film & Theatre Institute of India and Satyajit Ray Film & Theatre Institute.
