HIGHLIGHTS
  • Holistic Development:
  • What makes our B.A (Honours) English stand out from other B.A. programmes in English are the additional electives that we offer to enable students’ all-round development. In collaboration with the School of Holistic Development (SHD), we offer subjects such as Yoga, Aerobics, Digital Literacy, Event Management, Dance, Drama, Music, Swimming, English Communication, societal immersion, spirituality and morality, to name a few, catering to students’ interests. We also offer four foreign language courses for students – German, French, Japanese and Spanish, which widen the horizon for students.

  • Cambridge Certification:
  • We are one of the only two Official Cambridge Assessment Centres in Maharashtra. We offer Cambridge Linguaskill (International Certification) free of charge to our students. The exam is similar to IELTS and is recognized by various institutions, academic and professional, around the globe.

  • Wider scope of syllabus:
  • In comparison with the Undergraduate programmes in English in India, our syllabus is more inclusive and wider in scope as it covers all the major literatures in English – British, American, Indian, Australian, African and Asian. The syllabus is also on par with that of universities abroad.

  • Research-based Approach:
  • The School of Humanities provides ample opportunities for research work. The University recognizes and funds potential research projects. Additionally, students are encouraged to write research papers under the guidance of faculty members and publish their research in journals or present them at conferences. The English Language Teaching Summit and English Literature Summit are two virtual international conferences that the School of Humanities organises in collaboration with ISEL. By participating in these conferences and presenting their papers, students get to listen to and connect with international and national academicians and researchers, thus strengthening their research network, skills and acumen. At the Ph.D. section at the School of Humanities, there are currently 6 research scholars who are pursuing their doctorate degree programme. For more information on the number of vacancies and thrust areas for Ph.D., please visit the ‘Programmes Offered’ tab.

  • Swami Vivekananda Chair:
  • The School of Humanities is the nodal centre for the Swami Vivekananda Chair. with the aim of promoting and actualizing the vision and ideals of the renowned spiritual leader Swami Vivekananda. It also aims at spreading awareness and encouraging the youth to follow Swamiji’s ideas and principles as an exemplar of leading a holistic life.
