    The School of Vedic Sciences is a centre of academic excellence dedicated to the systematic study, critical inquiry, and living transmission of India's ancient knowledge traditions. School integrates the rigour of modern scholarship with the depth and philosophical grounding of India's classical learning systems — offering postgraduate programmes that are intellectually demanding, culturally rooted, and professionally empowering. From the mathematical precision of Vedic astronomy and the philosophical profundity of Darshana Shastra, to the healing sciences of Ayurveda and the sublime aesthetics of Sanskrit literature — our programmes are designed for learners who seek not merely degrees, but intellectual and personal transformation.

    Objectives of the Department

  • To provide holistic education in Indian Knowledge Systems by integrating the physical, cognitive, emotional, intellectual, ethical, and spiritual dimensions of human development.
  • To develop critical thinking, textual understanding, research competence, and empirical inquiry among students for the study of śāstra-s in contemporary, global, and dynamic contexts

M. A. Sanskrit

Duration:2 years (4 Semesters)

Eligibility:Students who have graduated or an equivalent examination recognized by Government competent authority with an aggregate 55% Marks for general category (5% relaxation in case of backward class categories and a person with disability belonging to Maharashtra state candidates only.)

Program Description:The M.A. in Sanskrit program, conducted over two years (four semesters), offers a thorough study of classical Sanskrit literature, grammar, and philosophy,etc., equipping students with a deep understanding of ancient texts and preparing them for academic, research, and teaching careers in the vast field of Sanskrit language.

  • Sem-1 Introduction to Vedas, Vyakarana-1, Sahitya Landscape, and Vedic Science Foundations.
  • Sem-2 Nyaya-vaisesika basic, Vyakarana-2, Sahitya Padya, and Elective-1.
  • Sem-3 Mimamsa Basic, Vyakarana-3, Sahitya Nataka, and Elective-2.

Program Description:The MSc Vedic Sciences program at the School of Vedic Sciences, MIT ADT University explores ancient Indian wisdom, integrating Vedic philosophy, Ayurveda, Yoga, Astrology, and Sanskrit studies with modern research. Core subjects include Study of Indic Sources, Indic Knowledge Landscape, Foundations and Facets of Ethics, Ashtadhyayi Pravesha (अष्टाध्यायी प्रवे), Indic Reasoning and Debating, Vedic Aesthetics, Indic Wellness System, Basics of Jyotisha (ज्योतिष), etc. The program blends theoretical insights with practical applications in wellness, spirituality, and sustainable living. Graduates can pursue careers in research, education, wellness consulting, alternative medicine, and cultural preservation. Opportunities for higher studies in Indology, Ayurveda, Indian Knowledge Systems, or Yoga Therapy are also available. Program Description:Aligned with NEP 2020, M. Sc. Indian Knowledge Systems focuses on the interdisciplinary study of Indian knowledge traditions through sustained engagement with classical texts and primary sources, integrating tradition with contemporary disciplines while emphasizing research, documentation, and applied learning rooted in ethical, sustainable, and holistic perspectives. The curriculum offers NEP 2020–aligned interdisciplinary and credit-based flexibility, a strong foundation in classical Indian texts and knowledge traditions, and the integration of traditional wisdom with contemporary domains such as science, ecology, governance, health, and technology. It emphasizes primary-source engagement, critical interpretation, and research methodology, alongside skill-oriented training in manuscript studies, digital humanities, and documentation practices. The programme provides exposure to Indian philosophical systems, epistemology, ethics, and applied knowledge, offers opportunities for fieldwork, internships, projects, and community engagement, and prepares learners for higher research (Ph.D.) and policy-oriented careers.

Ph.D. in Vedic Sciences

Duration:As per UGC regulations, minimum of 3.5 years

Eligibility:M. A. Sanskrit/M.Sc. Vedic Sciences/PG in Indian Knowledge Systems or equivalent

Program Description:

  • Multi-disciplinary R&D which opens for Several opportunities at IITs and various other institutes in India and abroad for Indic science experts
