When/Why go for Counselling/ Psychotherapy

Mental health and well-being are essential for us to have fulfilling and functioning lives. Maintaining mental well-being affects various spheres of our life such as academics, work, interpersonal relationships, family life and so on.

However, sometimes it may happen that certain life events, family or work environment, maladaptive coping (poor lifestyle, communication pattern , decision making, addiction etc.), mental or physical illness creates changes in the life patterns or creates hurdles that prevent us from satisfying even our needs.

Certain life events may cause significant changes in our lives that may be difficult to adjust to. These in turn cause blockages in our coping mechanism with the result that we end up with a dysfunctional life/lifestyle.

Counselling or therapy is open to all people irrespective of gender and age. You need not have a severe mental illness or significant impairment in functioning to seek professional help. Counselling is useful to improve your life, perspectives and relationships and enhance your functioning.

We are now open for consultation!

In case you are yet uncertain about who to consult, here are a few guidelines that might serve as a starting point. These are by no means rigid or obligatory but just available for those who are uncertain on who to consult.

If you are under stress, having relationship issues (professional/personal), child issues, feeling depressed, anxious etc and are looking for counselling services If you are looking for consultation on mental disorders such as major depression, anxiety disorders, psychosis, substance use disorders and dementia, you could opt for our Psychiatric Services
